The new ArchiCAD and MaxonForm (different program, not bundle together) is on my the radar screen and it is expected to be release in a few months time, I hope that it has a new rendering engine besides the current Lightwave rendering engine, which is unstable and slow. I hope the new ArchiCAD is able to address some fundamental issues of the past and enhance it with:
- – Plan ht. cut for walls
- Angled and tapered walls
- Profile management
- Plotmaker integration
- Simplified layer management
- Merge different walls into single walls
- Add footings and trim to walls
- Locking elements of some sort
- Element Schdule schemes
- Walls showing across stories or at plan cut ht.
- Elements above plan cut can be dashed

Unlike the previous version, the new ArchiCAD use together with MaxonForm (another program) is a whole lot more flexible when it comes to designing building like Zaha Hadid’s masterpiece. Walls are now able to have the unique curve form which is almost impossible in ArchiCAD 7 .
Conclusion, the new ArchiCAD is a big improvement over previous version and with the MaxonForm, ArchiCAD beats Autodesk Revit handsdown, its time for Revit user to switch to ArchiCAD.
