Just like what everybody predicted when Google bought SketchUp. Google has now offer a strip down version of SketchUp for free, the free version is not meant for detail 3D model making and it is cater for beginners, for example first timers that want to draw a 3D model of their house and upload it to Google Earth.
Google has released SketchUp Pro 5 which has all the original features of Sketchup like Animations, walk through, 3D export formats, sandbox and free tech support. SketchUp Pro users also get access to ruby script support and large-format, high-resolution printing. According to their official website, SketchUp 6 is in the development stage.
I believe that the version 6 would be free and there would be no more stripped down version, just basic and pro for beginners and amateur.
