Houten Fire Station

This must be the world most celebrated fire station for its architecture and design. Looks more like a hanger to me, believe it or not, the fire station really exist and it can be found in the Netherlands. Design by local architect firm Samyn & Partners.

The gleaming glass might fool us into thinking that it is made out of solar panels, and by discarding the traditional fire station red colour, the station has the perfect combination of high aesthetic and utility.

Nice, I live in Houten :) This fire station indeed looks like something from the game “Command and Conquer”. Another fact about this fire station is that the colour behind the fire trucks is caused by hundreds of paintings, created by local youth.

    Greatings from Holland!
