The 60th open-air graduation ceremonies and possibly the last open-air graduation for Curtin University.

Just like any other graduation ceremonies in the world, we are bombarded with endless inspiring speeches. However, a speech gave by an old balding guy caught my attention. He started off by describing his childhood life as a country boy (Background sound: Moo! Moo!).

He went on to quote JFK’s speech on the Chinese word for ‘crisis’, which consist of two different character, ‘Danger’ and ‘Opportunity’. In times of danger, there are opportunities. Very inspiring but not quite true, the mandarin word for ‘crisis’ had been misquoted by many again and again.
Then again, the misquoted word for ‘crisis’ is much more meaningful.

The great old Lao-Tzu (Father of Taoism) said: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Here we go!
Slappy White has a really good advice for all jobless fresh grads, “The trouble with unemployment is that the minute you wake up in the morning you’re on the job.”
