Designed by Paris-based Agence Jouin Manku, the YTL residence was completed in 2008. According to thecoolhunter, the residence is the ultimate expression of the taste, influence and industrial-scale capabilities of the prominent family whose entrepreneurial activities have shaped Kuala Lumpur’s skyline. According to Wikipedia, YTL Corp is one of Bursa Malaysia’s largest companies and together with its five listed subsidiaries has a combined Market Capitalisation of about RM35 billion (US 10 billion ). The company has also been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange since 1996, being the first Asian non-Japanese company to be listed there. YTL Corporation is the parent company of YTL Power, YTL Cement, YTL Land, YTL Hotels and YTL e-Solutions. Amongst the group’s key businesses are utilities, high speed rail, cement manufacturing, construction contracting, property development, hotels & resorts and technology incubation and it serves more than 10 million customers in over three continents.
Unlike other crony companies in Malaysia, YTL is one of the few crony companies with an impressive annual growth rate in Pre-tax profits of 55% over the last 15 years. YTLPI owns a 100% stake in Wessex Water, one of the most efficient water and sewerage operators in the UK and a 33.5% stake in ElectraNet Pty Ltd, which owns and operates the power transmission grid for the State of South Australia. These international portfolios are only a fraction of what they own.

on April 21st, 2009I saw this house a few months ago, and thought about sending the link to you, but never did.
It’s featured in the latest Architectural Record.
It only has a few interesting thing (interior design), but generally I think it’s obscene.
Out of scale, just a vulgar display of wealth, could be similar to that skyscrapper in india that’s a house for some rich family.

on January 25th, 2010Agree. Money cannot buy taste. They better stick to what they know best – construction of buildings – and not try to show us what is good or green architecture, especially from the younger Yeoh generation of managers.
I think they are confused between sustainable and fashionable architecture, what by creating so much publicity about Bird Island, 11th Hour, Earth Hour, etc. and not walking the talk ( or driving hybrid cars )? Tsk! Tsk!
