Well, this is my topic for Architecture Research and Methods, I am required to research on sociology in architecture, which is something I find interesting as I dig deeper into the methods used. Sociology is an obstructive method and is by far one of the best methods among all, the only limitation it has is the researcher’s imagination and inventiveness, for instant if a landscape architect is assign to design a walk path in a park, the best way would be to observe the physical traces of the surrounding such as worn pathways, this would give a slight idea on where the new walk path should be.
In short, architectural sociology is the study of how designed environment influences the inhabitant and in turn influence society and human behavior. Winston Churchill once said: “We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us.”

Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements.

As an architectural sociologist in Las Vegas with the firm Lucchesi Galati, I am delighted to read of your interest in sociology in architecture for your class project. I regret not reading about it earlier. My firm has a keen interest in the collaboration of architecture and the social sciences. I would be very interested in seeing your research project. We have a wonderful connection to Dr. Ronald Smith, a sociology professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas who teaches Architectural Sociology (I have the privilege of teaching the course with him this semester). If you, or anyone you know, is interested in pursuing this are of interest either academically or professionally, you are welcome to contact me. Thank you for bringing this topic to light!
