8 Heeren Street is a good example of two story building build in the late 1700s by the Dutch. It is one of the typical early shop houses structure in Malacca that uses permanent materials such as brick and clay roof tiles instead of timber and thatch structure.

This is where I stayed – Hotel Puri, the building is located in one of the oldest streets in Malacca called Heeren Street by the Dutch, and known as Holland Street to the Chinese till this day. It was also nicknamed Millionaires’ Row as most of the Chinese millionaires of the pioneering period lived on this street.

St.Paul Church, built as a small chapel by a Portuguese captain, Duarto Coelho in 1521. The Dutch used it to bury their noble dead.

The oldest Chinese temple in the country. It was built in 1646 with materials shipped out of China. Fine workmanship is evident in the ornately decorated mythological figures, carvings,and lacquer work inside the temple.
