AutoDesk SketchBook Pro, Computer Sketches For iPhone

Autodesk Sketchbook Pro seems like an awesome piece of software. With all of these new software and hardware, sometimes I wonder where are we heading? Will lecturers accept digital sketches sketched on a multi-touch laptop? Looks like a very good police sketch artist software to me.

And now we have Autodesk Sketchbook for iPhone, snap and sketch. Trace the outline, anything.

Many years ago, I was involved in a heated debate on the effect of technology and architecture. A junior once said anything produced digitally with a computer is not a form of art; it has to be produced with tools such as pencils, paintbrush and etc.
What is photography, graphic design, and architecture then? When Photography was in film, it is art. Since the digital age caught up, photography is now an engineering course?
Come to think of it, art and design is all about ideas. Not so much of the tools we are using. Tools evolves, it is not limited to pencils, paintbrush, charcoal, paper, canvas and more. Indigenous Australian art (also known as Aboriginal art) is a form of art, what type of paintbrush do they use?
Art is about ideas, not the tools used to create it, be it digital or paper.
Then again, digital is not always the best media. Am puzzled on the court cases and digital evidence, it is not easy to airbrush a photo taken with film, on the other hand photos taken digitally can be easily edited with Photoshop together with the exif meta data.

Suddenly I felt Old

September 3rd was my birthday, out of a sudden I felt old and time is catching up on me. Benjamin my house mate dislike the thought of a young person thinking that he or she is old, but what are my odds of living beyond 50? 60? Coffin is for the dead not the old. With my current health, I doubt I can make it anywhere close to 40.
Isn’t it ironic that when I was younger I am dying to leave school, then when I enter college I was dying to enter University, and then I was dying to finish my studies, probably I am dying to get married and now I am dying – slowly but surely, everyone dies every minute, as we grow we die a little. I guess in order to gain something we need some sacrifices.
I guess life is fair in many ways.
p.s. The sketch above reflect what I am, what I once was – and what I hope to become. There is no certainty only opportunity.
