Saw this article while reading the papers. A quick search on Wikipedia reveals that the initial proposal for the Kingdom Tower was a 1.6KM tower, scaled down to 1KM, it will be the tallest building in the world, 180 meter taller than Burj Khalifa. According to the newspaper, ground work has begun.
At the rate things are heading, pretty soon architects will be designing elevators to space.
How far is space? You need to get about 350 km (220 miles) above the Earth’s surface to get to the point where a spacecraft can orbit the planet.
